Prior Experience

Provided financial analysis support and developed cash flow models supporting the senior management acquisition of a consumer accessories company.

Successfully turned around a skin care products company after it lost the customer that generated a majority of its sales. He restored a fractured banking relationship after a period of significant losses and extended the credit facility. The restructuring plan Jim implemented reduced operating expenses by 40%. He created sales and margin analysis reports that led to refocusing sales efforts on a previously ignored, extraordinarily profitable business segment. As a result of those efforts the company was returned to a positive cash flow position, creating a platform for future growth.

Appointed CEO for a credit card services company after a receivership was established as a result of actions initiated by the Federal Trade Commission claiming fraudulent misrepresentation. The company had been operated fraudulently and was reduced to a skeleton staff of 7 from 90 when taken over by the receiver. The project required assessing the viability of the business if operated legitimately, restarting operations, hiring sales agents, and developing tools to monitor operations. While operating the business, establishing open lines of communication with claimants, defendants counsel, and regulatory agency personnel. Once stabilized and shown to be profitable created the offering memorandum, solicited buyers, managed due diligence, and sold the operation. Proceeds were sufficient to pay 100% of claims filed plus provide a multi-million dollar residual settlement payment to the FTC.

Prior to focusing on turnaround and receivership engagements, Jim held positions as President and Chief Financial Officer of Carbsense Foods and early stage specialty food company being positioned for sale; Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Coffee Bean International a roaster and nationwide distributor of private label specialty coffees; Chief Financial Officer of Ness Holding Company a $250 million privately held company with subsidiaries engaged in food and equipment manufacturing, public storage warehousing, long haul transportation, and consumer products brokerage; and was a senior Tax Consultant Price Waterhouse.
